The digitally generated three-dimensional architecture dissolved the border between the real physical and the digitally alterable worlds. A deep space was generated whose perspective and focus can be modified and transformed.
The German »Future Prize« is a highly endowed research award for technology and innovation that is awarded annually by Germany’s federal president. Together with Christoph Held (heldstudio) we designed a media stage installation for the 2011 ceremony, which was held at the Tempodrom in Berlin and broadcast live on ZDF. The set design, which was projected onto a 36-meter wide back drop using elaborate projection technology, functioned as an extension of the built space, that was designed by Christoph Held. The digitally generated three-dimensional architecture dissolved the border between the real physical and the digitally alterable worlds.
A deep space was generated whose perspective and focus can be modified and transformed. The video animations of the architectural-like video display can alter the stage set so fundamentally that during an interview situation, for instance, a calm animation in the background becomes a stage back drop that is tailored to the presentation of film excerpts. The architecture allows the situation on stage to be easily altered to accommodate the broadcasting sequence and to generate mood changes.
